Learn more about our *new* Mathematic Terms material which was designed to aid children in developing precise arithmetic language.
As you may know with the Montessori method, children receive information through classified systems. That is because the child has a natural manner of learning through classification. Knowledge must be organized to be processed and integrated.
Our new material, Mathematic Terms, is a series of Nomenclature Cards and wooden cutouts that provide children tangible information that they can organize. The material contains 3-part cards with definitions of the four operation processes (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), Montessori color coding, visuals, and wooden hands-on materials.
As you work with children on any of the operations, bring the set to read along. This will give children the precise language of an operation, and a point of reference for the future. Later, children can work on reviewing all concepts together.
At Alison's Montessori, we continue to develop new educational materials that respond to children's current needs!
