Calculating volume is traditionally introduced around age 10, or 5th grade. Each time you have introduced one of the presentations for calculating right-angled parallelepipeds, cylinders, cones, and spheres, you may encourage your learners to use Study of Volume to practice, maintain their knowledge, and further their study of volume.
Our set, The Study of Volume Task Cards, consists of task cards divided into seven sections. It also includes a large Control Chart with all the necessary formulas to work through the task cards. The Task Cards will have your learners use classroom materials such as the Volume Box with 250 cubes, the Pink Tower, and the Broad Stair Prisms. Toward the end, your learners will work in a more abstract manner by being provided with visual objects to calculate. As always, on the back of each card is a complete description of how to calculate the volume of the given example.
These cards are printed on 80lb card stock paper.
