Using a sliding bar to indicate minuends 1 - 17, this material allows children to subtract small equations using 1 to 9 as a subtrahend, yielding differences from 0 - 17. While it does not replace the Subtraction Strip Board and its matching fingerboards, control charts, booklets, and exercises, it does provide an additional activity in the operation. This material is designed by Dr. Daniel Jutras of the Canadian Montessori Teacher Education Institute.
