Many of the Practical Life area exercises are preparatory works to provide children with repetitive tasks that will refine their coordination, concentration, and fine and gross motor skills.
Dr. Montessori explained that the development of the child's intellect comes from manual experiences. For this reason, offering aesthetic materials with a purpose is essential. Such exercises provide opportunities for children to observe sequencing, to repeat and refine specific movements, and to coordinate the hands with the eyes. Children find great joy and peace in such simple works.
Our Gem Sorting Set will make an excellent addition in your control of moments area. The set includes thirty glass gems in three different colors, three stainless steel sherbet bowls, a woven basket, and a medium plastic carrying tray.
Children are invited to place the elongated basket to the left, and use their three pinch grip to sort each glass gem per color. Later, the exercise can be increased by adding a tool (spoon, tong.)
The sound of gems falling in the metal bowls stimulate children's interest and senses!
