This Economic Geography curriculum is designed for children ages 8-12. Inspired by Dr. Montessori’s insights, this curriculum reveals the complicated web of human cooperation and the essential connections that support society. Through engaging, real-world examples, students learn how different roles and trades are interconnected, from the farmer growing wheat to the baker producing bread and the shopkeeper selling it.

Children work hands-on with cards representing various professions, helpers, and transportation methods to explore questions like “Where does our food come from?”, “What does each person produce?”, and “Who does the farmer need?” Each activity in this series illustrates how products and services reach us through a collective effort, emphasizing collaboration and integration among people.

With Economic Geography, students gain an understanding of global and local economic structures, including the role of taxes, utilities, and government in supporting society.
